My intention is to share my experience as honestly as I know how.
My commitment is to transform our current cultural conversation about cancer from one of fear and dread to one that empowers those of us who have cancer, as well as our friends & loved ones.
I had cancer. Cancer didn't have me.
Yay! That is such great news!
ReplyDeleteI hope that if they offer you a chance at visiting nurses or home health aides, you will take the help. We had a visiting nurse come by twice during my first week home. Even though she was really just there to make sure that I was medically safe, it was great to have someone to ask questions that came up and to confirm that although I felt like I had been hit by a bus and was a total mess, I was actually doing okay. I had two drains still in my abdomen when I came home, so it was good to have someone confirming that we were managing them correctly and that output was decreasing at an acceptable rate. She also was good at saying whether or not my questions required a call to the doctor or not; if I didn't have her, I might have been either calling my surgeon every day or been totally afraid to both him when I needed to actually talk to him.
I am so excited for you that Bert is coming home!!! He must be progressing really well.
